Why I made it

The wind on the ground swirls. The wind above the trees does not. The best apps in class either cost way too much, are littered with ads, or don’t split the wind data by direction, meaning I have to estimate arccos and arcsin in my head. That’s dumb, so I made this app.

How it works

The app uses the National Weather Service for wind forecast coverage, always pulling a cross-grid around you and updating the pulled forecast as you approach a grid boundary. If location accuracy dips, or you lose signal, the app makes it clear what the wind around you is and shows you when the forecast you have was last valid.
